Junior-high maths & science · Grades 7–9 · Maths, physics, chemistry and science

Connect the formula to what it means.

When memorising a formula is no longer enough, we return to the quantities and ideas behind it. Max listens to your child’s reasoning to find the step that needs attention.

This may fit your child if…

  • Maths or science results vary and the reason is unclear.
  • Remembers formulas but cannot decide which one to use.
  • Needs support with school progress, school tests or Taiwan’s junior-high comprehensive assessment.

What we look for

Memorising definitions
Reciting atomic structure or electrical terms, but getting stuck when asked why they work that way.
Losing meaning in graphs
Working with a quadratic equation without understanding what its graph shows.
Confusing quantities and units
Using a correct calculation but misunderstanding the quantity or its unit.
One gap affects the next topic
A missing earlier idea makes the rest of a chapter feel harder.

What a lesson involves

  1. Each lesson is 50 minutes, one-to-one on Google Meet, taught in Chinese.
  2. For students in Taiwan, lessons follow their school textbook with additional materials from Max.
  3. Max asks your child to explain their reasoning before deciding what to practise.
  4. In monthly and term plans, the teacher reviews homework photos and returns to difficult ideas with further practice.

Choose the starting point together.

Foundations

Repair earlier gaps in ratios, equations or physical quantities before moving forward.

Keeping pace with school

Prepare and review school topics, with attention to the difficult parts of each test’s scope.

Further challenge

Work through harder and cross-topic questions, comparing methods and explaining each step.

A closer look at the teaching

Selected earlier teaching and classroom videos, in Chinese. They illustrate activities and explanations; the current service is online one-to-one tutoring.

Fees and getting started

For families in Taiwan, foundations plans are: Single lesson NT$1,200; 4-lesson monthly plan NT$4,500; 16-lesson term plan NT$16,800. Materials are included. Other levels and special needs are quoted after the free consultation.

Families overseas use US-dollar plans. Compare the full plan details.

Common questions

Can we work on both maths and science?

Yes. Discuss both during the consultation. Each lesson is 50 minutes, and the lesson plan and number of sessions depend on the support needed.

Do you prepare students for Taiwan’s junior-high assessment?

Yes, alongside school progress and the assessment scope. There is no score guarantee; Max explains the difficulty identified and the work planned for it.

Does the consultation commit us to lessons?

No. The consultation is free, lasts about 20 minutes and helps us understand the child’s needs. It is not a subject lesson or an enrolment.
